NRCS to Provide Assistance for Damage
In brief, Congress has authorized the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to provide assistance for watershed damage from the September 2009 rain storm. Work can include removing debris from streams, protecting eroded banks, and reseeding damaged areas. To be eligible, landowners must attend one of the scheduled meetings and complete the application process. Click here for more details

Police Department Supports the Worthan Fund

The Jerry Worthan Memorial Christmas Fund is a non profit charitable organization whose mission for over thirty years is providing gifts and food to the children of less fortunate families in the Kennesaw area on Christmas morning. The Kennesaw Police Department and community volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food, new toys and financial donations on advertised dates. Volunteers will be on hand to accept donations in the parking lot of the Community Center at 2753 Watts Dr in Kennesaw.

The collection dates and times are:
Saturday, November 21st 10am to 6pm
Saturday, December 5th 10am to 6pm

Donations can also be taken to the Police Station on J.O. Stephenson Ave. , Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm now until December 18th. Check the city website often for the announcement of other drop-off locations.

Food donations will be distributed by the Shiloh United Methodist Church Food Pantry, a community partner of the Worthan Fund..

Road Closure Alert
The actual point of closure is at the bridge over the CSX rail line; closure is necessary due to bridge replacement.

The detour route from Old 41 Hwy at Stilesboro Rd will be Stilesboro Rd (west) to right on Ernest Barrett Pkwy (north).

The detour route from Old Hwy 41 at Ernest Barrett Pkwy will be Ernest Barrett Pkwy (south) to left on Stilesboro Rd (east).

Prizes Awarded to Incredible Pumpkin Trail Winners
Fifteen local businesses, organizations, schools and families contributed their time and talents to help create unique, colorful and playful pumpkin scenes in downtown Kennesaw for public viewing in October as part of the City of Kennesaw Parks & Recreation Department's Incredible Pumpkin Trail decorating contest.

Prizes were awarded in six categories, and winners were announced on November 14 at the Folk Tales by the Rails event. Below are the list of winners.

"Ball Busters" Crowned Adult Co-Ed Softball League Champions
The City of Kennesaw's Fall 2009 Adult Co-Ed Softball League came to an end on Nov. 15, after eight teams met in the season-ending tournament to battle for first place. The "Ball Busters" were crowned champions after defeating "Krush" by a score of 17-7.

The Ball Busters have participated in the Adult Co-Ed Softball League since the Spring of 2008, and went undefeated (8-0) during the regular season. The team's 13 players are Dana Bryson, Michael Byrd, Natalie Cantrell, Tony Halligan, Kevin Hoffman, Stephen Matejcik, Mary Beth Morsow, Scott McCurley, Brett Perryman, Katie Ruf, Tabitha Somoskey, Matthew Taylor and Ashley Williams.

Games were played on Sundays at Adams Park, 2600 Park Drive.
